ABOUT US

Palos Verdes Golf Club is a private club located in the middle of an 800-acre parkland preserve overlooking Santa Monica Bay with ocean views visible from several holes. Established in 1924, the golf course has long been referred to as "a hidden gem" and the clubhouse is a designated historical building by the Palos Verdes Historical Society.

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

• Approach all interaction with Members, guests, and colleagues in a courteous, service-oriented manner
• Remain attentive, friendly, helpful, courteous, and respectful to Members, guests, managers and fellow employees at all times
• Recognize intoxication and attempt to limit problems and liability related to excessive consumption
• Complete daily opening and closing duties and cleaning according to Clubhouse protocol
• Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies
• Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks and serve drinks to Members and guests, directly or through the wait staff
• Serve food, wine, and bottles or draft beer; assist Members and guests in making wine selections
• Know and be able to communicate all cocktails, wine and beer on menus and detailed descriptions of each
• Respond appropriately and politely to guest requests and communicate guest requests to management when necessary
• Communicate with co-workers and management throughout shift to ensure efficiency of service
• Assist fellow employees as needed throughout the shift
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction

Qualifications & Skills:

• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of government alcohol beverage service regulations
• Basic math skills
• Basic knowledge of POS systems; Micros experience preferred
• High level of client services, professionalism, decision making, and attention to detail
• Ability to demonstrate proper wine service; knowledge of wines/wine regions
• Ability to work Holidays and all shifts according to your availability provided at the time of hire.

Experience and Education:

• Minimum two years' Bartender experience in an upscale restaurant environment; fine dining and/or country club experience highly preferred ¨
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred ¨
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage operations; extensive knowledge of bartending ¨
• Mixology certification preferred or candidate must be willing to enter program within three months of hire
• At least 21 years of age to pour alcohol per government regulations
• Serv-Safe certified required; Serv-Safe Alcohol certified required ¨
• CPR certified a plus
