Job Description

Electronic Engineer I Location Fort Collins, CO :

Performs engineering work in applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of products or systems. Works with customers to understand equipment/system requirements. Uses research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts. The job requires electrical engineering proficiency in the design, development, evaluation, and analysis of power supplies for OEM customers.

This is a hands-on position. This role will involve both design of new products and supporting sustaining engineering on existing products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and analysis of systems, power supply products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals
  • Diagnose issues of moderate scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address
  • Responsible for many aspects of programs or projects and the corresponding administrative documentation and paperwork
  • Follows key engineering procedures including the Product Development Process and ECO process
  • Design of DC/DC, AC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various industry wide topologies
  • Working with cross functional teams (PCB layout, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing and Quality engineering) to facilitate the design process
  • Selection of components and suppliers based on product performance specifications, reliability, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in internal design reviews
  • Responsible for root cause analysis on products, technical problems, and documentation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of power topologies and control theory
  • Ability to write and analyze design documentation
  • Ability to work and handle multiple projects and tasks in parallel

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in electrical engineering
  • Understanding of power electronics:
    • Demonstrated experience with Switched Mode Power Supplies
    • Modelling, simulation, and testing of power electronics
    • Altium
    • Mathcad and/or Matlab
    • Simplis

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $68,000 to $88,000 per year.
